Home security isn’t just about doors and windows anymore. With Wi-Fi, smart TVs, cameras and connected devices, digital openings are also real.
Start with your Wi-Fi router. Change the default password to something strong and not easily guessable. Avoid using your name, flat number or phone number. Don’t share the password casually with everyone who visits.
Update software regularly—on your router, smart TV, phones, laptops and any smart devices. Updates often fix security gaps quietly in the background.
Be careful with “free” apps and unknown websites on devices connected to your home network. One infected device can risk others.
For shared streaming or shopping accounts, avoid saving card details wherever possible and use two-factor authentication when available.
If you have smart cameras or doorbells, change default login details and only access them through official apps. Cheap, unknown-brand devices can be riskier, so research before installing anything that watches your home.
Digital security is just an extension of normal safety: don’t leave doors open, and don’t leave digital gates wide open either.
