Old Building vs. New Project: Which Type of Home Suits You Better?

Choosing between an old building and a new project is more than just “old vs modern.” Each has its own personality and trade-offs.

Older buildings often offer larger room sizes, thicker walls and sometimes better natural light and ventilation. Many have established neighbourhoods with full-grown trees, shops and familiar routines. But they may come with older plumbing, wiring and lifts that need more maintenance.

New projects usually give you updated layouts, modern amenities like gyms and pools, and better parking. Finishes are fresh and systems are new. However, room sizes are often smaller, and societies may still be figuring out rules and maintenance costs.

Ask yourself what matters more to you: space and character, or newness and amenities? Also consider your budget for ongoing repairs. An old flat might be cheaper to buy but need more work over time.

There is no universal right answer—only what matches your lifestyle, finances and patience level.
