You don’t have to be an expert to catch early signs of trouble at home. A 20–30 minute monthly check can spot issues before they turn into emergencies.
Walk around and look at ceilings and upper walls. Any new damp patches, bubbles in paint or faint stains? That might signal seepage or a small leak above.
Open under-sink cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms. Check for moisture, mouldy smell, or tiny drips from pipes. Catching these early can prevent damage to wood and flooring.
Turn on all lights and fans briefly. Listen for unusual noise, flickering or slow starting. Sometimes a simple cleaning or loose connection can be fixed before total failure.
Test a few power sockets with a phone charger. If any feel loose, warm, or don’t work reliably, note them down.
Check balcony railings, window latches and door locks for stability. Tighten screws if needed.
These small checks don’t replace professional servicing, but they give you a clearer picture of your home’s health so you can call the right person at the right time.
